Last week I was in the UK for an Extreme 40 photo shoot on the Solent with our new machine in her new colours that will be officially reviled in Paris on September 11.

It has been a crazy period for Hugh Styles who runs the team logistics etc as he has been co-ordinating boat repairs from our crash during Cowes event as well as a new paint job, one boat to Paris whilst one goes to Italy for Centomiglia race on the 8th of September then both boats from Paris and Italy to Amsterdam for the final event in the Ishares Cup between the 14th and 16th of September….he’s stressed!

I have just received an e-mail from our office which says ‘I hope you like flying’ as we will be pretty non stop over the next few weeks attending the various events.

As a sailing team we are really excited about Amsterdam. We are one point behind second place overall for the year and if we can steal second this will be the best result we could have ever achieved this year given that Basilica is so far ahead of the fleet on a performance sense. With Basilica into their third year with the boat and us in our first then I am confident we can bridge the cap substantially if the opportunity presents itself for our team next year. As with anything we need to know where we stand on a sponsorship front early so we can plan, build good structure and train to develop the skills required…so back to the business of the sport after this next event.

I am looking forward to the Centomiglia Race in lake Garda this week as I have never visited this legendary sailing venue. Some of the guys have just arrived and rang me to tell me how beautiful the area was, the whole gang is really ‘pumped’. I leave tonight on a Flight from France to London before heading to Italy but looking forward to meeting up with the troops.

So this is it..the final push and a final result for the years efforts in this new and exciting class. Our initial objective was to achieve a podium finish in the Cowes Event which we nailed with a 2nd overall, now we have set our sights to finishing on the podium for the season…and we will be giving it our all.

I will be traveling without lap top so for all the results log onto www.isharescup.com

Go hard

Nick
